THE GOOD NEWS: Your DAUGHTER finally decided to marry the guy. Bad news: She’s been reading bridal magazines. The trouble with kids today is that they’ve got no respect for tradition. They want liveried parking lot attendants, string quartets, tuxedo shirts with intertwined monograms, champagne fountains. Catering! Don’t worry, though, caterers want to make you happy.

Naturally, they need as much time as possible (about six to nine months is par). Most will accommodate special dietary requests. For all caterers, prices vary according to month, day and time of the affair, as well as the food and beverages being served.

Affordable elegance is the watchword at Dante Caterers in East Elmhurst. It’s a family business stressing good value, absolutely fresh food and four beautiful ballrooms. Three will hold over 200 and one is for intimate parties of 75 or so. Prices start at $32.95 per person for Saturday afternoons and the evenings start at $49.95. Ask about their Friday and Sunday discounts! The wedding menu begins with a buffet style cocktail hour. Unlimited liquor, beer, wine and soda are served throughout the party. After the cocktail hour, there is a champagne toast, appetizer, salad, entrée, wedding cake and coffee. Entrees may include turkey, roast beef, prime rib, chicken cordon bleu or salmon dijon. The current trend is to let the guests choose between several entrees. There are many ways to enhance the package, including international buffet selections, butler service, a carving station and a Viennese Hour.
